How dangerous is UV light ?
All UV light can damage skin and eyes as well as causing various kinds of cancer, including melanomas. Damage to the eyes is extremely painful and can result in permanent blindness while skin cancers may ultimately result in death. UVB is very penetrating and is the cause of sunburn.
Exercise extreme caution when working with UV light. Never look directly at a source and ensure that your skin is adequately protected (including hands and face). The best way to use UV lamps is to ensure that they only operate in light tight conditions,i.e. there is no chance of UV light escaping either directly or by reflection. Equipment must always be child proof. Paint the inside of equipment matt black to absorb excess light.
